Write to your MP: Shut the Pax Down!

The UK signed up to Pax Silica in our name, with no public debate and no vote in Parliament. Your MP can demand answers. It takes about ten minutes.

Why write to your MP?

As far as we can find, no UK minister has publicly said who's responsible for Pax Silica, what it commits Britain to, or what it'll mean for communities in the Philippines. MPs can ask ministers questions in Parliament and get answers on the record. That only happens when constituents ask them to.

A letter from you counts. MPs keep track of what their constituents write to them about, and a personal letter carries far more weight than a signature on a list.

How to do it in four steps

Find your MP

1

Go to WriteToThem.com and enter your postcode. Choose your MP from the list. WriteToThem is free and independent, and it sends your letter straight to your MP's inbox.

Write your letter

2

Use our guide below. Please put it in your own words. WriteToThem blocks identical letters, and MPs take personal letters much more seriously. Pick the points that matter most to you, add a sentence or two about why you care, and change the wording as much as you like.

Confirm by email

3

WriteToThem will email you a link. Your letter won't be sent until you click it, so check your inbox and spam folder.

Tell us you've done it

4

Let us know at info@ichrp-britain.org and forward us any reply you get. MPs' answers help us track where Parliament stands and plan our next steps.

Tip: MPs only reply to their own constituents, so include your full postal address. WriteToThem will ask for it.

Subject line:

  • UK membership of Pax Silica: questions for the government

  • Pax Silica and human rights in the Philippines

  • Why did the UK join Pax Silica without a debate?

Dear [MP's name],

Start with who you are.

  • I'm writing as your constituent in [town/area] because I'm concerned about the UK's membership of Pax Silica.

  • As a constituent, I'd like to ask you to raise a matter that I don't believe has had any scrutiny in Parliament: the UK's membership of Pax Silica.

Say why it matters to yovu. Write a sentence or two of your own. For example: your connection to the Philippines, your work, your faith, your concern for climate justice or human rights, or simply that you believe decisions like this should be made openly.

Explain the issue. Keep the points that matter most to you, and put them in your own words:

  • Pax Silica is a US-led coalition, launched in December 2025, to secure supply chains for AI, semiconductors and critical minerals. The UK joined as a founding member, but I can find no record of parliamentary debate or of which minister is responsible.

  • In the Philippines, Pax Silica centres on a 1,620-hectare "Economic Security Zone" at New Clark City in Tarlac. It is moving ahead without a completed feasibility study or environmental impact assessment, and investors may be offered 99-year land leases.

  • The first New Clark City development displaced Aeta Indigenous and farming communities and diverted local rivers. I'm worried the same will happen again, on a larger scale.

  • The push for critical minerals is increasing mining pressure across the Philippines. Communities resisting mining, including against a London-listed company in Nueva Vizcaya, have faced police violence and arrests.

  • Pax Silica's own architects say the semiconductors it secures are central to modern weapons systems. I don't want UK policy to help turn Filipino land and resources into a supply line for war.

Ask for specific action. Specific requests are more likely to get a real answer:

  • Will you write to the relevant minister asking which government department leads on UK membership of Pax Silica, and what commitments membership involves?

  • Will you table a written parliamentary question asking what human rights, environmental and Indigenous consent safeguards, if any, the UK has required as a member of Pax Silica?

  • Will you ask whether UK membership includes any defence or military cooperation?

  • Will you call for a parliamentary debate on the UK's membership before any further commitments are made?

  • Will you support the call for the UK to withdraw from Pax Silica?

Close.

  • I'd be grateful if you could let me know what action you take, and share any response you receive from the government.

  • I look forward to hearing your views and what steps you're able to take.

Yours sincerely,
[Your name]
