Who we are

ICHRP Britain is the British chapter of the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines. We are responsible for the personal information you give us when you join or contact us, which makes us the "data controller" under UK data protection law (UK GDPR). What we collect

When you apply for membership, we collect:

• your name, or your organisation's or branch's name

• the names and roles of your officers or key contacts

• your email address, phone number, postal address and city or region

• your membership type, how you pay and your payment records

• the activities you're interested in

• details of any union affiliation motion

Why we collect it, and our legal basis

We use this information to:

• manage your membership and collect dues

• contact you about our work, events and campaigns

• keep records of our member organisations and affiliations

Being a member of ICHRP Britain may reveal your political views, and union affiliations show trade union membership. The law treats both as "special category" data. We may hold this information because we are a not-for-profit organisation with political aims and we use it only for our members and the people in regular contact with us. We will never share it outside ICHRP without your consent.

For anything beyond running your membership, we will ask for your consent first. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who we share it with

• Service providers: We use Squarespace, Google Forms and Gmail to collect forms. Some of these providers may store data outside the UK, under safeguards approved by UK law.

We never sell your data or share it with government bodies, unless the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you are a member and for 12 months after your membership ends. After that we delete it, except for financial records, which we keep for 6 years to meet legal requirements.

How we keep it safe

Only the ICHRP Britain secretariat who need your information can see it. We store it in password-protected accounts with two-factor authentication.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• see the information we hold about you

• have it corrected or deleted

• object to or limit how we use it

• withdraw your consent

• receive a copy of your data
